11AM Reading

From immigrants to billionaires, unknowns to the world-famous, surfers to moviemakers, quacks to rocket scientists, dreamers have always been attracted to Los Angeles. In his unique book, Dreamers in Dream City, native son Harry Brant Chandler of the Los Angeles Times family provides compelling and evocative color portraits along with accompanying personal insights and biographies of fifty-four of the most accomplished and colorful men and women the City of Angels has produced.

About Harry Brant Chandler
For more than twenty-five years, Harry Brant Chandler was a successful Los Angeles-based media executive at companies including Twentieth Century Fox, Showtime, CBS, the Los Angeles Times, and Overture Services (now Yahoo Search).  He now devotes much of his creative attention to his photography.  As a descendant of Angelenos whose dreams helped shaped the city: from founding and running the Los Angeles Times to numerous civic, business and real estate endeavors, Chandler was fortunate to grow up in proximity with many of the larger-than-life characters and stories of Los Angeles' recent past.

Stop by early to enjoy the pool and Back on the Beach cafe - and stay for the 1pm docent tour by the Santa Monica Conservancy.
